The curtain will rise on the XXXV edition of the Charlot Award, the event dedicated to Charlie Chaplin conceived and directed by Claudio Tortora, on July 5th.

As usual, the event will kick off with a mini film festival, with free admission, which will be held at the Teatro Delle Arti in Salerno, from July 5 to July 9. For this edition of the Charlot Award, Tortora has decided to pay homage to another great American actor, director and screenwriter, one of the masters of the classic silent film period: Buster Keaton. In collaboration with the Cineteca di Bologna, on days 5 and 6 the 1926 film “The General” co-directed with Clyde Bruckman will be screened. On days 7 and 8 July the 1928 film “Steamboat Bill Jr” directed by Charles Reisner with Buster Keaton will be screened first, followed by the 1922 short film “Cops” directed by Edward F. Cline and Buster Keaton. The mini-festival will close on July 9th with the screening of “Sherlock Jr” from 1924 and then of “One Week”, a 1920 short film directed by Buster Keaton and Eddie Cline.

The screenings will begin at 20.30:XNUMX pm and admission is free until all seats are taken.

CHARLOT AWARD TO ORNELLA MUTI, FRANCESCO DI LEVA AND ANNA BISOGNO ON JULY 25

And while we prepare for the ribbon cutting of the 35th edition of the only event in the world dedicated to Charlie Chaplin, the lineup of guests who will receive the Charlot Awards is growing. Artistic director Tortora, in fact, has announced that on the evening of July 25, which will be held at the Arena del Mare in Salerno, with free admission, the actress Ornella Muti (Charlot Grandi Protagonisti dello spettacolo Award), the actor Francesco Di Leva (Charlot Cinema Award) and Anna Bisogno, Associate Professor of Cinema Radio Television at the Mercatorum University (Charlot Communication Award) will go on stage to receive the award given by the jury chaired by journalist Nino Petrone.

CHARLOT PRIZE SUPPORTS LILT WITH CHARITY LOTTERY 2023

The Charlot Award supports Lilt (Italian League for the Fight Against Cancer) of Salerno, and the 2023 charity lottery. Every evening at the Arena del Mare in Salerno, there will be a Lilt point where spectators can buy a lottery ticket for 2 euros. In this way they will support Lilt of Salerno and at the same time have the chance to win one of the 10 prizes up for grabs (first prize a trip to Paris for two people). The charity lottery of Lilt of Salerno, as explained by the president Dr. Pistolese, serves to raise funds to support the activities that the association carries out throughout the territory of Salerno and its province. Activities that range from consultations to free visits at cancer prevention clinics, up to prevention days.
