They forbid her to use the beach resort because she comes from a free beach and the mayor reports the manager. It happened in Bacoli.
“We have reported a beach resort in Bacoli that refused to let a woman use its bathrooms. Reason? 'She comes from the free beach. And she can't come in here'. It's shocking stuff – writes the mayor Josi Gerardo Della Ragione on Facebook – which tarnishes the good name of our city.
And, even worse, it besmirches many other beach concessionaires who, instead, in our city, respect the most basic rules of civility. Intolerable”.
“The woman – continues the mayor – he was able to access the toilets of the beach, only when he was about to feel ill. A sort of pity. A sort of gift given to the people, by the owner of the moment. Pure squalor.
There are still, unfortunately, those who believe that managing a public asset means becoming its owner. In the warning, we specified that a new violation of the most basic rights of bathers will be punished with the revocation of the state concession. Immediately”.
For the mayor of Bacoli it is a question of “a new battle – as he himself defines it – which follows the one started last summer against those who, in Miliscola, prohibited the entry to the beach of baby food and bottles of water. As if it were a private club.
You have to get it out of your head. The owners of the sand and the sea, we are all. They are the heritage of the community. Without gates, without chains, without fences. Without building abuses, without obscenities. And without absurd prohibitions.
Commercial activities on the beach are public establishments. And toilets must be open to everyone. It is one of the essential requirements. Everyone has the right to use them. I thank the citizens who have reported this very serious fact. Together, we will defend our land from those who think they own it. One step at a time”.
