Aversa, Mayor No Confidence. Graziano: Out of the PD those who voted against”

Very tense atmosphere at home after the early end of the municipal administration of Aversa  led by Mayor Alfonso Golia, forced to resign less than a year before the elections after the 2023 budget forecast was not approved in yesterday's City Council meeting.

As is now known, the abstention of the president of the city council Roberto Romano, a former member of the Five Star Movement who joined the Goliath majority a few years ago, was decisive in the rejection of the accounting document.

Probably already on that occasion (together with some exponents of the Moderates headed by the regional councilor Giovanni Zannini who had joined the majority shortly before) he saved the mayor from an even earlier "end" than the current one; in fact, for some time now, not everyone in the Aversa PD had supported Goliath, and three PD city councilors, considered close to the president of the regional council Gennaro Oliviero, voted with the opposition, and it happened again yesterday, at perhaps the most decisive moment.

The one who has set fire to the internal powder keg of a party that in the Caserta area has been under special administration for years, divided between factions, is the Caserta PD deputy Stefano Graziano, who underlines how a highly deplorable political situation has arisen.

If a part of the Democratic Party (or so-called) with the cover of the upper echelons of the regional council, despite the call for unity from the city commissioner of Aversa and the willingness shown by the other part of the Democratic Party to reason, avoids the confrontation, voting against a Democratic Party administration, together with the right wing of the Assembly, as if nothing distinguished them, it becomes necessary to say clearly that, whoever does not have a sense of the Party, whoever does not share its intentions, discussions and actions, is out as far as I am concerned".

Also very polemical is the new commissioner of the Democratic Party of Aversa Eugenio Marino, who highlights the gravity "of what happened, with the internal dialectic of the Democratic Party that has gone beyond the limits of normal dissent, transforming itself into the rejection of a fundamental administrative act such as the budget, determining the fall of the council led by the same Democratic Party and producing damage for the entire city.

Immediately after my appointment as Commissioner – continues Marino – I called a meeting and went to Aversa to listen to everyone's reasons, especially those who contested the council and to identify shared solutions to protect the city".

“It is unacceptable – he continues – that the very councilors who voted with the opposition and the Right were the only ones absent from Monday's discussion at the PD Club, making explicit their total lack of will to seek dialogue and their intention to bring down the council”.

The Pd group leader in the Province of , Alessandro Landolfi and the other Democratic exponent Alessandro Tartaglione (outgoing coordinator of Articolo Uno Caserta), speak of "unscrupulous actions carried out in Aversa by municipal councilors and exponents of the Democratic Party or presumed such, which are light years away from the political line of the national secretariat.

For this reason we invite the provincial commissioner Susanna Camusso to implement all the necessary actions to delimit the political perimeter of action of the Democrats of Terra di Lavoro so as to no longer allow those who are outside this line to completely sink the Democratic Party".

And the Five Star Movement of Aversa also intervenes in the matter, which after losing Romano, who passed into the majority at the beginning of 2021, no longer had any city councilors. In a note the grillini speak of "deep bitterness", adding that "this moment does not represent a victory for the citizen Movement, but a defeat for the city of Aversa, its citizens and its thousand-year history".
