The mayor of Aversa (CASERTA) Alfonso Golia was voted out of confidence today by the City Council, which rejected the 2023 budget. A prefectural commissioner will arrive at the Municipality of the second city of Caserta in the next few days. The abstention from voting by the President of the Council Roberto Romano was decisive in the rejection of the accounting document, a circumstance that caused the majority to fail, effectively ending the municipal administration of Aversa; in fact, Romano's vote was needed for the majority to express 13 votes against the opposition's 12, and instead the vote ended with a "draw" that did not give the green light to the budget.
Golia was elected in 2019; with his early fall, an electoral campaign opens that will last until next spring. “I have submitted my resignation into the hands of the municipal secretary,” these were Golia’s last words in the Council before the vote, when Romano’s position was already clear and therefore the budget was rejected. “From this moment on,” he added, “I will no longer be the mayor of the city, which will miss important opportunities. I am sorry but calm.
I make an appeal for the collective well-being: the political die is cast, there is no longer a political majority. I am here to call for responsibility and vote in favor of the accounting document. My love for Aversa will certainly not stop for an abstention”, concluded Golia.
