Football is a mystery, and perhaps also a question of faith. Word of Aurelio De Laurentiis, president of Napoli, who once again chooses the visionary and mystical tone to comment on the end of the season, between dreams of the Scudetto and the Champions League now almost in the bag for Inter.
“Football is very beautiful - he said - because the ball goes where God wants and where our athletes can take it. Sometimes it goes the right way, sometimes the wrong way. We are all in God's hands and those who live will see”. Statements released not in a stadium or in a press room, but in a symbolic place like the Circus Maximus of Rome, during the inauguration of the Health Village for the Race for the Cure, an event dedicated to the prevention and fight against breast cancer.
A setting with a strong social value, in which De Laurentiis has been able to unite sport, spirituality and humanity in a few sentences. And if someone looks to him for a prediction on the immediate future of Napoli or on the real possibilities of overtaking in the last curve of the championship, they only receive a theological caress and an invitation to patience: “I don’t allow myself to make predictions.” The ball is round, sure. But, for the president, it is God who dictates the direction.

Football is a complicated topic and De Laurentiis' words are interesting but I don't know if they are really as deep as they seem. Faith in football is one thing but the reality of the facts is another. I hope Napoli does well.
