Naples is preparing to welcome a breath of joy and color with the 7th edition of the Smile Clown Festival, the event entirely dedicated to the figure of the clown-actor and the therapeutic power of smiling.

From May 9th to 11th, the Mostra d'Oltremare (Viale Kennedy, 54 – Laghetto Fasilides) will be transformed into a true Village of Joy, with over 100 free-entry shows, creative workshops, sports activities, training courses and special meetings that embrace the theme of solidarity and inclusion. Organized by Teniamoci per Mano Onlus with the patronage of the Campania Region, the Municipality of Naples, the Mostra D'Oltremare and the support of Optima, the Smile Clown Festival confirms itself once again this year as a family-friendly event, with a packed program of events designed for adults and children. One of the new features of the 2025 edition is the area dedicated to health, with the participation of the ASL Napoli 1 center which will set up an information space where it will be possible to receive free consultations on crucial topics such as prevention, cancer screening, women's, children's and adolescents' health. Family counseling centers and vaccination centers will illustrate their services, indicating locations and access methods. The CRT has also accepted the invitation and the Territorial Transplant Coordinations of the ASL Napoli 1 Centro and the Azienda Ospedaliera dei Colli will be present at the Mostra d'Oltremare, with their info points, where expert doctors and psychologists will be available to answer any doubts or questions about donation and transplantation.
There will also be a sports area, where adults and children can try their hand at guided physical activities, always in the spirit of fun. To complete the offer, a training section with courses on clown therapy, juggling and performing arts, also open to neophytes curious to discover the “behind the scenes” of the clown profession.
Shows, solidarity and the art of smiling: Naples celebrates the contemporary clown
The heart of the festival will be the 3 great afternoon shows, scheduled from May 9 to 11, hosted by 3 well-known faces of Italian comedy: Giobbe Covatta, Mino Abbacuccio and the actress Angela Delfini. Every afternoon from 17 to 19 pm, 6 artists selected among the best contemporary clowns will take to the stage, in a playful challenge to win the title of "Best Clown 2025". The shows, with free admission, will offer the public seats and an amusement park atmosphere with popcorn and cotton candy for everyone. The Festival, however, is not just entertainment. Over 3 associations, active in social work, disability and work with children, will be the protagonists during the 50 days. They will bring with them creative workshops, inclusive experiences and activities for all ages, creating a fabric of solidarity that goes beyond the stage. An opportunity to learn about realities that every day work to make the world more accessible and smiling. Among the most anticipated moments, the meeting on Saturday with Claun Pimpa, known for bringing smiles even to war zones, and with Miloud, the clown who has been working in the most difficult suburbs of the world for years. Sunday morning will be the turn of Leo Bassi, an internationally renowned Spanish comedian, considered the last great heir of the tradition of clowns. This festival looks very interesting and fun, but I'm not sure if I'll go. Too many events and activities for children, and I prefer quieter things. But health is important, so maybe I'll go to those sections.
