They publish a fake advertisement for the sale of a tractor online and disappear after receiving a payment of 3 thousand euros. The Carabinieri of the Baselice station (Benevento), coordinated by the company of San Bartolomeo in Galdo, have reported for fraud a 66-year-old and a 40-year-old Calabrian, already known to the police.
Last June, an agricultural entrepreneur from Baselice had noticed an advertisement for the sale of a tractor on a well-known website and, attracted by the particularly attractive price, had contacted what later turned out to be a fake seller. The negotiations were conducted by telephone and via a well-known chat in a friendly and professional manner, so much so as to convince the unsuspecting victim to pay approximately 3 thousand euros into a bank account to complete the purchase.
However, once the payment was received, the fake seller disappeared without delivering the tractor to the buyer. Upon receiving the complaint, the Carabinieri immediately began their investigations and were able to ascertain that the phone used by the fake seller actually belonged to the 66-year-old and that the account into which the money stolen from the fake sale had ended up belonged to the 40-year-old. The two were then reported to the judicial authorities.
