From Friday 10 November Carlo Buccirosso debuts at the Sannazaro theatre with Il vedovo allegro. On stage with Buccirosso are: Gino Monteleone, Massimo Andrei, Elvira Zingone, Davide Marotta, Donatella de Felice, Stefania De Francesco, Matteo Tugnoli. The show is written and directed by Buccirosso. The Production is Ente Teatro Cronaca E Ag Spettacoli Napoli.
In his director's notes Buccirosso writes:
Three years after the end of the pandemic, Cosimo Cannavacciuolo, a hypochondriac widower, permanently affected by anxiety and fear, tenant of the third floor of an ancient building located in the center of Naples, having lost his beloved wife due to the virus, finds himself fighting loneliness and hardship due to the failure of his antiques business, which forced him to fill his house with unsold goods from his shop, and to have to fight against the looming shadow of the bank granting the mortgage which, due to repeated missed payments, threatens the expropriation and confiscation of his apartment...
Cosimo's life would have been much emptier and more monotonous without the presence of Salvatore, the bizarre caretaker of the palace, and his two children Ninuccio and Angelina, the first in constant collusion with him, and the second devoted to marriage and the cleaning of her apartment.
And it is also to face the economic difficulties of the moment that Cosimo has granted the use of a room in the apartment to Virginia, a young cinema and theater quick-change artist who brings him a breath of lightheartedness that never hurts... But the real anguish of the widower antique dealer is represented by the Tomacellis, neighbors, custodians of a dramatic secret that for months has contributed to making his daily and strenuous fight for survival even more complex! Will the tenant of the third floor succeed in getting out of the abyss into which he has fallen for three years now? You will only find out by coming to the theater...
