At the end of a complex investigation, coordinated by the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office and conducted by the police officers of the Rome Flying Squad and the Viminale police station, together with the agents of the II Parioli Group of the Local Police of Rome Capital, with the assistance of the Flying Squad and the Local Police of Naples, a custodial order was executed against 11 people.
The defendants, with serious criminal records for crimes against property and the person, in some cases inserted in contexts of organized crime, are seriously suspected, to varying degrees, of the crimes of criminal association aimed at committing extortion, aggravated fraud against elderly persons and persons with impaired defense, aggravated theft, fraudulent use of credit cards (stolen from victims), impersonation, as well as illegal possession of multiple firearms, rifles and pistols.
68 episodes have been reconstructed on the national territory to the detriment of poor and vulnerable victims, with the achievement of huge profits, consisting of money and valuables of the elderly kept in their homes. The crimes are aggravated by the circumstance of having been committed to the detriment of weak and vulnerable subjects, in conditions of diminished defense, of advanced age and affected by serious mental and physical pathologies.
