Elderly scams in Rome, the base was the historic center of Naples: 11 arrests

The other woman, 57 years old, in addition to helping the above mentioned also in guarding the money, had the task of protecting the associates and in case of arrests/reports of procuring the defense attorneys to be appointed. The two women also acted as telephone operators with the specific task of contacting the victims, sometimes pretending to be a "Carabiniere and/or Lawyer", to whom they falsely represented the involvement in problems of justice or police of a family member (usually a son or nephew).
Finally, the other suspects, as material “collectors or tax collectors”, after receiving the input from Naples, went to the homes of the victims where they stole all the money or valuables, or all the “lifetime” savings of the unfortunate elderly people.
Specifically, during the investigations in which numerous observation services were carried out in the cities of Naples and of Rome, in confirmation of what emerged, it was highlighted how other associates, supporting the "collectors" and the "telephone operators", in order to make the so-called accident that occurred to the family member appear more truthful, pretended, over the phone, to be the same relative in difficulty, thus contributing to making the poor victims fall for the scam.
During today's operations, 65.000 euros in cash and numerous gold jewels were seized, likely proceeds of scams carried out in recent months.
