The ASL Napoli 1 Centro has increased its surgical sessions by 18%, in particular by 23% in elective regime. This result was achieved thanks to a new organizational model for the management of the surgical complex of theSea Hospital, which was awarded in Rome as part of the “Lean Healthcare Award 2023”.
The project, carried out in collaboration with Kpmg, aims to minimize waste of time by eliminating low added value activities, with a view to ensuring quality and safety.
The Ospedale del Mare operating complex, composed of 14 operating rooms and focused on 12 surgical specializations, represents a crucial point in the regional clinical care process.
The main results of the project are:
A significant increase in the use of computer systems for programming;
The average growth of monthly interventions;
An advance of the start time of the first intervention by approximately one and a half hours;
An overall improvement in the efficiency of planning the surgical complex.
The general manager of ASL Napoli 1 Centro, Ciro Verdoliva, declared that “the results are excellent and there is still great room for growth”. The project will now be extended to all the hospital facilities of the company.
