Saturday afternoon in music at the Royal Palace of Caserta: at 17.30:XNUMX pm, in the Palatine Chapel of the Royal Palace of Caserta, the second concert of the Caserta Chamber Orchestra for the Vanvitellian Celebrations will take place.
The second part of Musica al Tempo di Vanvitelli, a project by the orchestra conducted by Antonino Cascio, will feature as a guest soloist the violinist Seiji Okamoto, winner of the prestigious ARD Competition in Munich in 2021. The program includes the Romance for violin and orchestra in F major op. 50 by Ludwig van Beethoven, the Concerto no. 3 KV 216 for violin and orchestra by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Symphony no. 81 by Franz Joseph Haydn, pieces that, like Vanvitelli, project the late Baroque sumptuousness towards the rationalism and composure of classical lines, collect the legacy of the past projecting it towards a near future. In fact, if Beethoven's Romance, despite its composure, already smells of romanticism, Haydn's symphony, with its dissonances and certain tonal ambiguities, preludes future harmonic developments.
The project “Music in the time of Vanvitelli”, chosen by the scientific committee of the Museum as part of the participatory valorization plan of the Royal Palace of Caserta, is supported by the MiC and the Campania Region. It draws inspiration from what the maestro learned during the performance of the opera Alexander in the Indies by Johann Christian Bach at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples “…It must be confessed that Music is no longer exclusive of Italy. The harmony, the sweetness, the grace, the regulated variety, and everything else that constitutes Music and Melody practiced by this most worthy man (JC Bach) surprised me as much as any other in Naples…” (Letter of 16 January 1762).
Vanvitelli, therefore, captures with surprising acumen and anticipation the new course of music and the elements that will characterize what is commonly called the "classical style". The project began with great success last spring and will continue throughout the period of the Celebrations. Participation in the initiative is included in the ordinary cost of the entrance ticket or season ticket to the Museum until all seats are taken. Access to the Palatine Chapel is permitted from 17.15:17 pm. From 4 pm the cost of the ticket for access to the Royal Palace is 17 euros. The concert will be repeated on Friday 20 November at XNUMX pm at the Church of S. Francesco in Aversa as part of the segment "Vanvitelli beyond the Royal Palace".
