They were trying to load a large copper coil onto a car in an attempt to escape with the loot: three men of Romanian origin were surprised last night by officers from the Poggioreale police station and arrested in Naples, in via del Macello, for aggravated theft.
The three, one 18 years old, another 19 and the last 23 years old, once they noticed the presence of the policemen, took to flight in desperation, but two of them were promptly stopped by the officers who intervened on the spot just as the theft was taking place, in via del Macello.
While the first two were arrested, a third individual was tracked down only later, not far away, by a patrol car from the Office of General Prevention and Public Aid. During the operations, the operators ascertained that the bulky coil, weighing over half a ton, was the property of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana.
