Gender violence, prevention and awareness, but also the importance of remembering the victims will be at the centre of a meeting organised by Rotary Club Campania - Napoli November 24th, at 20pm, at the Hotel San Francesco al Monte (in Corso Vittorio Emanuele 328).
"For the first time in Campania, the trailer of the documentary film "Alessandra, il coraggio di una figlia" will be presented, dedicated to Teresa Buonocore, a courageous mother from Portici, killed for having reported the abuse suffered by one of her daughters. Naples is a testimonial for many initiatives against all abuse of women, so that nothing is shrouded in silence anymore". Thus Christian Capurro, president of the Rotary Club Campania – Naples who will present the evening event “The weight of courage”, which is also the title of the awareness-raising campaign on the fight against gender violence by the Rotary Club Ulisse 2101 Golfo di Napoli and Club Due Golfi.
The main purpose is to shed light on current legislation and activities to combat gender-based violence, including violence against women with disabilities. «This latter topic is often covered by a veil of silence», Capurro emphasizes. Speakers will include Ludovica Carpino, vice-commissioner of the State Police, MEP Chiara Gemma and lawyer Drusilla De Nicola.
Then Alessandra Cuevas, Teresa Buonocore's daughter, will present the documentary together with Alessandra Clemente, councilor of the Municipality of Naples. The debate will be moderated by Marilù Musto, journalist of "Il Mattino".
