In a routine check that quickly took on a more serious tone, the Naples Municipal Police intercepted an ambulance as it silently drove through Piazza del Plebiscito, without a siren or flashing lights. The operation was conducted by the Chiaia Operations Unit, which quickly discovered that the vehicle had been uninsured for nearly a year.
Following the inspection, the ambulance was immediately placed under administrative detention, with the registration document confiscated on the spot. In addition, the driver of the vehicle received a fine for unauthorized transit in the area, given that Piazza del Plebiscito is a pedestrian area where the passage of vehicles is strictly regulated.
The situation has attracted the attention of the local community. The competent authorities are now engaged in further investigations to clarify how a vehicle so critical for health emergencies could circulate without the necessary insurance coverage, potentially putting both patients and public safety at risk.
