Ithe commissioner delegated to the post-landslide emergency Ischia, Giovanni Legnini, welcomed the decision of the Council of Ministers to allocate an additional 10 million euros for civil protection interventions on the island.
This important contribution will allow us to complete the cleaning and re-functionalization activities of the riverbeds in the territory of Casamicciola Terme and Lacco Ameno. The funding is part of a broader framework of interventions to secure the island of Ischia, also thanks to the support of the competent institutions such as the Ministry of Civil Protection and Maritime Policies.
Giovanni Legnini expressed his gratitude to the Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies, Nello Musumeci, and to the Head of the Civil Protection Department, Fabrizio Curcio, for having accepted the request for additional funding.
This additional contribution will allow for the completion of important residual risk reduction works linked to the disastrous events that hit the island, such as the cleaning of riverbeds and the removal of inert materials and debris.
With the addition of these funds, the total amount earmarked for emergency management reaches almost 100 million euros, definitively covering the costs of the necessary works.
