Asia, a 14-year-old girl from a town in the province of Salerno, is an example of strength and courage. She has been fighting against cancer for a long time, but she never gives up and always manages to be smiling and available to everyone. In recent weeks, however, she has also had to face a bad story of bullying on social media.
It all started when Asia started posting pictures of herself wearing a bandana on social media, during the cycles of chemotherapy at the pediatric oncology department of the Santobono – Pausillipon hospital in Napoli.
Some “followers”, instead of showing her support, started sending her insulting and offensive phrases.
At first Asia fell into despair, but then she reacted with great determination. She continued to post messages on social media, ignoring bullies and responding to them with phrases like: “Excuse me if I’m undergoing chemotherapy for a cancer I didn’t choose to have.”
Asia was not alone in this battle. Her parents, grandparents, the doctors who treated her and the volunteers of the pediatric oncology department They were close to her and gave her the necessary support.
