Work has begun to secure the rocky ridge above the former slaughterhouse of Valle dei Mulini in Amalfi. The intervention, which has a cost of approximately 200 thousand euros, was promoted by the municipal administration led by mayor Daniele Milano with the aim of reclaiming the rock face and allowing the reopening of some underlying buildings currently unused.
The area, which is located under the pedestrian street that connects the center of Amalfi in the hamlet of Pogerola, is affected by safety interventions on a portion of the Chiorito ridge. The works include:
Further monitoring of the wall
The elimination of shrubs that could cause instability and crumbling
Punctual bandages or nailing
The placement of a cortical network over an area of approximately 1.100 square meters
The cladding with rope panels on an area of approximately 140 square meters
In the area, some boulders have also been identified that require immediate safety measures to avoid dangers to public and private safety.
The works, entrusted to the Public Works and State Property Department, will last 45 days and are financed with municipal budget funds.
The safety intervention on the rocky ridge of Valle dei Mulini is an important public work that will improve the safety of the territory and redevelop an area that can be used for social and educational activities.
