Naples. Two men, aged 55 and 50, were reported at large by the Carabinieri Forestali of Naples for negligent forest fire. The fire, which occurred on June 30, affected an area of about one hectare in the Pianura district of Naples.
The flames, which started on a private property, quickly spread to the surrounding areas, covered with uncultivated vegetation and Mediterranean scrub.
Thanks to specific investigative activities, including the use of latest-generation surveys such as the "physical evidence" method, the Carabinieri Forestali were able to trace the two perpetrators.
The fire, according to the investigations, was caused by the illegal practice of burning brushwood to clear the agricultural land owned by the two men.
The 55 year olds and the 50 year old will now have to answer for forest fire negligent to the judicial authority.
The timely intervention of the Fire Brigade, supported by a helicopter from the Campania Region's forest fire service, allowed the flames to be tamed and avoided damage to people or homes.
The episode is a warning to all those who still underestimate the serious risks deriving from forest fires. Burning brushwood is an illegal and dangerous practice that can have devastating consequences for the environment and public safety.
It is important to remember that there are legal and safe channels for the disposal of green waste and brushwood.
In the event of a forest fire, it is essential to promptly alert the Fire Brigade on 112.
