Torre del Greco. Tragedy this morning in Torre del Greco, where a 76-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a car while crossing the street.
The accident occurred shortly before 8:00 in via Alcide de Gasperi, near the “La Salle” roundabout.
The elderly man, originally from the area, was crossing the street when he was hit by a Chevrolet Spark driven by a 30-year-old woman, resident of Torre del Greco.
The Carabinieri of the Torre del Greco company's mobile radio section and the 118 emergency services immediately intervened on site. The man was rushed to the "del Mare" hospital in Naples, where he unfortunately died shortly after due to cardiac arrest.
The driver of the car was subjected to all the relevant tests, resulting negative for alcohol and drug intake.
However, she was still reported by the police for road homicide.
Investigations are underway to ascertain the exact dynamics of theaccident and to establish any responsibilities. The elderly man's body was seized and placed in the hands of the judicial authorities.
The latest dramatic episode of road deaths reported in the news of Naples and the province in recent weeks has now also affected the community of Torre del Greco, where once again the street is stained with blood.
