NIn the municipality of Casamicciola, on the island of Ischia, “work began today to demolish a complex of seven buildings constituting a structural aggregate, seriously damaged by the earthquake seven years ago.
This is the second batch of the public plan for the demolition of buildings damaged by the events of 2017 and 2022, approved with the special commissioner's order of 24 April 2024".
Thus, in a note, the Extraordinary Government Commissioner, Giovanni Legnini, who went to the construction site together with the mayor of Casamicciola to personally verify the start of the works.
Immediately afterward, the note specifies, the Commissioner "carried out an inspection of the ancient La Rita thermal baths to verify the completion of the interventions. Contrary to what was reported by a press organ, the ancient La Rita thermal springs have been fully safeguarded and preserved for future recovery".
The demolition works “represent an important piece in the broader and more complex program of urban regeneration and safety of the territories that we intend to realize on the island of Ischia.
Therefore – concludes the Commissioner's note – after the works at the La Rita spa and the opening of the construction site in Piazza Maio, we will proceed without interruption with the third lot in Piazza Fango in the municipality of Lacco Ameno, the fourth lot in Via Nizzola, and then the fifth lot near Via Ottringolo, which is in the approval phase”.
