Torre del Greco. A memorandum of understanding to enhance Villa DeNicola, the home of Greek's tower where the first President of the Republic stayed.
This is what the mayor of is preparing to sign Greek's tower, Luigi Mennella, and that of the Metropolitan City Gaetano Manfredi. The Torre del Greco council has in fact formalized its interest in signing the document aimed at the delivery of the structure on free loan in favor of the entity of Palazzo Baronale.
He did so with a resolution with which the mayor and the executive acknowledged the proposal put forward by the former Province, after the specific requests that had arrived in the previous months from the Municipality.
The document recalls how the Metropolitan City of Napoli is the owner of Villa De Nicola: “Composed – it is explained – of a building on two floors and a large garden, for a total of 1.735 square meters”. Specifying that “in his testamentary bequest, President De Nicola envisaged that the property would be a center available to all, as part of the valorization of his cultural heritage, made up of books and legal texts, as well as being available to the community of citizens, favoring the new generations”.
The property enhancement plan that the Metropolitan City has intended to implement with the Municipality of Torre del Greco also fits into this context.
It is then highlighted that "the Metropolitan City of Naples and the Municipality of Torre del Greco, with the signing of the protocol, intend to enhance the property through a series of events, conferences, cultural itineraries, internships, institutional meetings, which allow the national community to know the legacy of President De Nicola, inserting the property into the cultural, tourist and institutional fabric of the Vesuvian territory.
The property could be the venue for events of high cultural interest, valorization and attraction for a relaunch of the territory, consistent with its history".
Here then is the Municipality, in expressing its interest in signing the agreement, which will lead the Metropolitan City to grant the institution the property for twenty years, committing itself "to provide for the construction of all the works necessary to create equipped spaces and meeting points".
Furthermore, the parties agree on the need to establish a political-administrative committee for the management of the property, composed of the two mayors or their delegates, two managers and two officials. The committee will be called upon to propose and approve the development lines of Villa De Nicola.
