It was not a road accident as it initially seemed what happened shortly before dawn yesterday in Via del Mare in Marano near Città Giardino.
It was a deliberate run over and therefore a homicide. After a few hours at the police station a young man showed up, accompanied by his lawyer, who accused himself of the run over.
His name is Aurelio Taglialatela, 19 year old nephew of a well-known boss from Marano, Castrese Palumbo, a leading figure in the Nuvoletta-Polverino clan. He was driving the Fiat 500 that hit the scooter, a Honda TMax with the victim Corrado Finale and his friend UG, 18 years old, on board, who suffered injuries that were judged to heal in 30 days and is hospitalized in Pozzuoli.
And he is the protagonist of this absurd story. According to what emerged from the investigations of the Carabinieri and the Prosecutor's Office of Naples North, Taglialatela would have chased the two boys riding the TMax, after a violent verbal clash, and then ran them over with his car.
Taglialatela disapproved of the love story between the sister and the victim's friend
The reason for the fight is linked to a relationship between Taglialatela's sister and the injured 18-year-old, a bond that the attacker strongly disapproved of. In the past, this relationship had caused tension and clashes, culminating about two months ago in an altercation in the central Via Salvatore Nuvoletta, near the Carabinieri barracks.
At that time, gunshots were also reported, as reported by residents and confirmed by authorities. The injured boy gave further details during an interrogation at the hospital the morning after the incident.
The chance meeting in Via del Mare, the chase and the investment
Last night, however, the situation degenerated. Taglialatela accidentally crossed paths with the two friends as they were walking along Via Del Mare, near a petrol station. After chasing them, the 19-year-old approached the scooter driven by Corrado Finale.
An exchange of insults and perhaps even threats ensued, when the friend from Finale, in a panic due to the proximity of the car, threw a blunt object against the window of the Fiat 500, shattering it.
It was at that point that Taglialatela reacted, accelerating and running over the two boys. Corrado died a few minutes after the arrival of the rescue. And the driver, after an initial escape, presented himself to the carabinieri and explained his version of events to the magistrate.
His life as a prisoner began tonight on charges of voluntary homicide.
