Piano di Sorrento – The organs of Jacopo Coda, the 19-year-old from Piano di Sorrento involved in a serious road accident along the SS 163 Amalfitana and who died today after three days of agony, at the Ruggi d'Aragona hospital in Salerno will give life to other people.
This morning Jacopo's heart stopped beating. The family, with a gesture of great generosity, gave their consent to organ donation.
The young man, on Wednesday morning, lost control of his motorcycle, a KTM Duke 790, and ended up crashing on the asphalt. Rescued in critical conditions, he was rushed by helicopter to the hospital in Salerno, where he underwent delicate surgery.
The doctors in the intensive care unit, led by Dr. Renato Gammaldi, fought to stabilize him, removing his spleen and repairing the serious damage to his liver with an innovative surgical technique. From the beginning, however, his neurological conditions appeared irreversibly compromised.
Jacopo Coda, originally from Vico Equense and resident in Piano di Sorrento, attended the Nautical Technical Institute “Nino Bixio” in Sorrento. His passing leaves a deep void among friends and relatives.
I police of the Sorrento Company are reconstructing the dynamics of the accident, which also involved a tourist bus with 23 Korean passengers on board, headed to Positano.
