Inconvenience and tension are increasing along the Circumvesuviana lines managed by Eav (Ente Autonomo Volturno), a situation that is generating discontent among commuters and difficulties for employees. According to the Orsa union, the technical and logistical problems are becoming unsustainable, with consequences that fall on both users and on the personnel in service.
In a statement released in the last few hours, Orsa denounces “trains overcrowded due to the compositions reduced to a single electric train, breakdowns, cancellations and delays”. These poor services, according to the union, increase the stress of travellers, leading many commuters to vent their frustration through verbal aggression towards employees, who often find themselves having to deal with unpleasant situations. “The workers - reads the press release - in addition to suffering the same discomfort as the passengers, they are forced to endure verbal aggression on a daily basis, sometimes repeated several times during a shift”.
Tensions, the union reports, are constantly increasing and verbal attacks are becoming progressively more frequent and violent. "We are worried – says Orsa – for the physical safety of workers, who operate in close contact with the public on a daily basis and find themselves on the 'front line' without any adequate protection".
The union openly criticizes the company's management, accusing it of ignoring the repeated alarms raised by employees and trade unions. “Despite regular reports, management appears insensitive to the reported problems. Some managers even request photographic evidence to support the reports written by workers, casting doubt on the word of those who are required to carry out their work as public officials.”
In closing, Orsa launches a warning: “If the attacks were to degenerate into episodes of physical violence, not only will we protect the employees in every appropriate place, but we will also report Eav for failing to ensure the safety of its staff. Protecting workers is essential not only for their physical and mental health, but also to create a safer and more respectful work environment.”
