Salerno. “The situation that emerged thanks to the intervention of the Carabinieri is horrifying. I cannot understand how all this could have happened. About forty elderly people were hosted in a residential facility in our city, and some of them were mistreated. This facility operates in a private regime.”
With these words, spoken during an event at the Palazzo di Città this morning, the mayor of Salerno, Vincenzo Napoli, commented on the operation by the Carabinieri that brought to light the abuse in a nursing home in the city.
“Despite this – continued the mayor – as soon as we learned of the situation, the Social Policies sector of the Municipality immediately took action to find alternative accommodation for the elderly without a family support network.
It was our duty to intervene, even if this structure is not under our direct management, a structure that I myself define as a concentration camp. I want to express my appreciation to the Carabinieri for their constant vigilance against any form of illegality.”
