In Grumo Nevano, the other day, a telephone shop was once again the victim of a theft. Some criminals, after tearing down the shutter, forced the entrance and, once inside, dismantled the cash register and stole telephone equipment, also destroying the display cases.
The same shop had already been burgled in another night raid in August. The owner of the business reported the facts, having contacted the deputy of the Green Left Alliance, Francesco Emilio Borrelli:
“On August 15, at four in the morning, I suffered the first theft. Despite having installed armored locks, video surveillance and an alarm system, last Thursday, at three in the morning, they returned, destroying everything.
I Carabinieri they are called immediately, but they always arrive late: they have to guard several municipalities in the area with a single car. In just one month, three shops like mine have been robbed. We are under attack and we feel helpless and defenseless.”
In the merchant's complaint, Borrelli sees the root of the problem: law enforcement is faced with rampant crime with insufficient resources. "Very few patrols available, while criminals act undisturbed.
The same business robbed twice in a few months is the sign of a territory at the mercy of increasingly unscrupulous and audacious gangs. The situation is clear to everyone, except, apparently, to the Minister, who continues not to respond to citizens' appeals. Does he have a broken cell phone? Buy a new one, perhaps from one of the robbed shops.”
