A resident of the province of Avellino has obtained compensation of 265 euros for a cancelled flight by EasyJet. The case concerns the cancellation, with little notice, of the Catania-Naples flight scheduled for July 14, 2023. The case was brought to the attention of the Justice of the Peace of Catania, who in recent days established the obligation for the airline to compensate the passenger.
Commenting on the ruling is ItaliaRimborso, the service that represented the passenger in the dispute: «The Justice of the Peace of Catania applied Community Regulation 261/2004, which protects the rights of air passengers in the event of flight cancellation, allowing them to request financial compensation. In this specific case, there were no extraordinary causes, such as strikes or adverse weather conditions, which could have exempted the company from the obligation to provide compensation».
ItaliaRimborso is committed to defending the rights of travellers, with a 98,2% success rate in compensation cases. Anyone wishing to activate legal assistance can do so easily via the form on the italiarimborso.it website. This new success confirms the importance of European legislation to protect passengers and reaffirms the right to compensation even for cancellations not justified by extraordinary circumstances.
