Mondragone. The Carabinieri of the Territorial Department of Mondragone, following an investigation conducted under the direction of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples - District Anti-Mafia Directorate - have executed a custodial detention order issued by the GIP of the Court of Naples.
The measure concerns an alleged top member of organized crime operating in the Mondragone area, accused of serious crimes, including extortion and attempted extortion, with mafia-related aggravating circumstances. He had already been subject to a precautionary measure for similar crimes on May 16th.
The new precautionary measure is the result of an in-depth investigative activity conducted by the Carabinieri, which allowed them to reconstruct numerous episodes of extortion against local entrepreneurs and traders. Several victims finally found the courage to report the intimidations they had suffered, thus contributing to the consolidation of the evidence against the arrested person.
