The neighborhoods of Ponticelli and Barra were the object of a large control operation by the Carabinieri of the Poggioreale company. During the operations, the military identified 232 people, including 89 with criminal records.
In Ponticelli, the Carabinieri executed a prison order issued by the Neapolitan Judicial Authority against a 44-year-old woman, who will have to serve a sentence of 10 years and two months for mafia-style criminal association.
A Barra, instead, the military reported a 37-year-old caught with a switchblade. Also in trouble was the owner of a garage in via Mastellone: the man, 66, had transformed the garage into an illegal betting center.
500 euros, three slot machines, three televisions and five computers with terminals and printers for receipts were seized. In addition to the charge of illegally exercising gambling and betting activities, the 66-year-old was also reported for theft of electricity, having tampered with the meter.
The checks also involved the Highway Code, with 138 vehicles inspected and fines for a total of 60 thousand euros. 14 vehicles seized.
