Rome, collision between two patrol cars: 32-year-old police officer dies

At approximately 5:00 a.m. this morning, a tragic traffic accident rocked the city of Rome. At the intersection of Via dell'Acquedotto del Peschiera and Viale dei Monfortani, in the Monte Mario neighborhood, two State Police patrol cars violently collided.

In the impact, one of the cars overturned and, unfortunately, a 32-year-old officer lost his life. Three other officers were injured and were transported in red code to the San Camillo, Santo Spirito and San Filippo Neri hospitals.

Teams from the Rome Capital Local Police responded immediately to the scene to conduct surveys and manage traffic. Due to the accident , Viale dei Monfortani (towards Torrevecchia) and Via dell'Acquedotto del Peschiera (towards the city center) were temporarily closed to traffic.

Investigations are underway to clarify the exact dynamics of the incident and establish the causes of the collision. The patrol cars were rushing to the scene where a fight between several people had been reported.
