On Friday, November 8, at 21.00:XNUMX p.m., Mutaverso Teatro presents Dov'è la Vittoria, a show by Collettivo BEstand, on stage at the Piccolo Teatro del Giullare in Salerno, as part of the GEografie section that focuses on Campania, highlighting the work of new authors and artists from the area.
The text, written by Agnese Ferro, Giuseppe Maria Martino and Dario Postiglione, offers a sharp reflection on contemporary politics, exploring the contradictions of populism and right-wing extremism. Giuseppe Maria Martino's direction stands out for its satirical language, capable of involving and shaking the audience that watches the three actors, Martina Carpino, Luigi Bignone and Antonio Elia in the midst of a creative process: the construction of a controversial and at times grotesque character.
The show, a production of Teatro di Napoli – Teatro Nazionale, Casa del Contemporaneo, uses lighting design by Sebastiano Cautiero, sets by Carmine De Mizio and costumes by Federica Terracina, which contribute to creating a surreal and disturbing atmosphere.
The show has already received numerous awards, including the Artec Napoli 2020 Neiwiller Award, the Audience Award at the Inventaria Festival 2019, and the Special Mention for Martina Carpino at the Nuove Sensibilità 2.0 Award. At the end of the show, a meeting with the protagonists is planned, directed by Olga Chieffi and Gemma Criscuoli.
Full ticket price €13; reduced under 30 €10. Contacts and reservations at info@ablativo.it or 329 4022021
The protagonist of the show is Vittoria Benincasa, the first woman candidate for the Presidency of the Council of Italy. A controversial figure, at times grotesque, who embodies the malaise and ideological tensions of modern Italy. Vittoria has the talent of a quick-change artist and the charisma of a Marvel villain.
She moves deftly in the ideological void of Italy in the last twenty years, eludes the contradictions of her political and gender identity, and aims at the heart of her electorate. The interpreters alternate frenetically in the construction of this character, revealing the fragility of the line between reality and fiction.
«We wanted to make people laugh but maybe we failed – says the BEstand Collective about Dov'è la Vittoria – As we developed it, the topic burned between our fingers: current events confirmed the absurdity we were fantasizing about.
As a result, the humor became blacker than expected, the farce veered toward the grotesque, the comedy became indigestible and corrosive. Faced with a reality that parodies itself, contemporary satire seemed to us a compromised and consolatory genre, and so we went under with this discomfort. We would like the audience's laughter to end with a toad in the throat».
