This morning, chaired by the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, a meeting was held on the topic of video surveillance for territorial control in the city of Naples.
Meeting in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Campania Region, Almerina Bove, the Councilor for Legality and Local Police of the Municipality of Naples, Antonio De Iesu, the Police Chief Maurizio Agricola, the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri Biagio Storniolo, the representative of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza, Mauro Del Rosario and the Director of the Campania and Molise Telecommunications Zone, Adriano Ardito.
The Prefect stated that today's meeting was called following the willingness expressed by the President of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, to make dedicated funds available for the creation of video surveillance systems for territorial control.
He also pointed out that, even if such systems are numerous, it seems necessary to increase them in order to provide additional tools to support the investigative activity of the police forces, as well as a valid deterrent to criminal actions.
In this regard, the Chief of Staff of the Campania Region confirmed the intention of the Authority, already expressed by the President in the aftermath of the recent news events, to allocate funds dedicated to the installation of new technological systems for public order and safety purposes in the city of Naples, according to the priorities that will be reported by the Police Headquarters and taking into account the needs of other territories of the Metropolitan City and the various provinces.
The Police Chief stated that a specific investigation was carried out on the matter with the Carabinieri and the local Police, at the end of which some areas were identified where video surveillance needed to be strengthened.
Therefore, in order to arrive at the quantification of the relative economic requirement to be presented to the Campania Region, it was agreed that the Telecommunications Zone will carry out, in a short time, a specific study to make known the necessary amounts that take into account the priorities established by the Police Forces.
