The Other Half of Frida is the title of the play by Dino De Angelis, which will be performed in Castellammare di Stabia on October 18th at 21 pm, at the Teatro Parrocchia Sant'Agostino, in via Venezia.
“The show focuses on Frida Kahlo's artistic career, including some of her writings, and deals with her stormy relationship with Diego Rivera, one of the most important muralists of the twentieth century,” explains the author.
The performance features De Angelis, the author of the lyrics, as narrator, accompanied by Salvatore Torregrossa, who plays accordion and percussion and has composed original music inspired by Frida's life, and by Matteo Franza on trumpet. Projected images visually reinforce some parts of the show.
The live painting, instead, is created by Marinella Veropalumbo.
The shows by Dino De Angelis, a Lucanian author and master of storytelling, mix storytelling and music in a fascinating combination. It is not the first time that De Angelis has brought one of his works to Castellammare: last year he achieved great success with Il caso Tenco at the Stabile Santa Filomena, while last August he was warmly welcomed by the public with Cuore di tenebra.
Also on that occasion the music was by Salvatore Torregrossa from Castellammare di Stabia. The artistic partnership between the two continues to prove successful, show after show.
The Castellammare performance of The Other Half of Frida was organized at the request of the public. In fact, many spectators, during previous performances, expressed the desire to see a show about Frida in Castellammare. For the occasion, a prize inspired by Frida, created by Ottica “Marilene”, will also be awarded.
