Montecatini Terme The police of the Montecatini Terme police station arrested two twenty-year-old Italians Napoli, accused of attempted aggravated fraud against an elderly resident of Pistoia.
The episode dates back to July 3. One of the young men was taken to prison, while the other was placed under house arrest with an electronic bracelet.According to the investigators' reconstruction, the scam began with a phone call: a man, pretending to be an acquaintance of the victim's son, communicated that the latter was under arrest for having caused a accident road accident in which a woman was reportedly seriously injured. The caller then asked for money to “resolve the situation.”
Shortly after, an accomplice showed up at the old lady's house to collect the alleged payment. In the meantime, a second individual joined the first, insisting on obtaining money or valuables, even going so far as to ask for the keys to the safe. The intervention of the victim's daughter-in-law, however, put the criminals to flight.
Thanks to timely reports and investigations, the police were able to track down the vehicle used by the scammers and identify them during a check that took place in the late afternoon in Arezzo. Investigations continue to trace other possible accomplices involved in the affair.
