Naples. The Prefecture of Naples has urgently convened a technical-operational table to deal with the cold emergency and guarantee assistance to the homeless. The meeting, chaired by the prefect Michele di Bari, was attended by institutions, third sector entities and associations.
In view of the harsh winter, reception and assistance measures have been intensified. The Municipality of Naples has announced the opening of new beds in reception centers and the distribution of emergency kits. In addition, procedures are underway to assign additional places dedicated to people with fragilities.
A fundamental role is played by the ASL Napoli 1 Centro which, with the project “Equità in Salute”, has deployed a camper equipped to provide healthcare directly on the street. The vehicle will be present in strategic points of the city, such as the Central Station and Piazza Cavour, ensuring medical visits and administration of medicines.
“We are committed to guaranteeing all citizens, even the most fragile, the right to a dignified life,” declared the prefect of Bari. “I thank all the institutions and associations involved for their valuable contribution.”
A new meeting will be held next year to take stock of the situation and plan further interventions.
