CASTEL VOLTURNO – A 53-year-old man, originally from Naples, was arrested by the Carabinieri of the Castel Volturno branch after being found in possession of illegally held weapons and ammunition.
The operation began yesterday afternoon, when the military, engaged in a territorial control service to combat illegal arms trafficking, carried out a search of his home. Upon their arrival, the man, already known to the police, tried to collaborate by spontaneously handing over a Valtro AP 92 model 8 mm caliber “blank-chaser” pistol, without the red cap, with an empty magazine and some ammunition.
His nervous attitude, however, aroused the suspicions of the Carabinieri, who decided to investigate further with a more thorough search. In the bedroom, hidden in a space under the bed and inside a closet, the officers discovered a 7.65 caliber Beretta pistol with a partially erased serial number, complete with a magazine with five bullets of the same caliber. Along with the weapon, they also found 24 bullets, three magazines, some cartridge cases and a steel knuckleduster.
The entire arsenal was seized, while the 53-year-old was arrested and placed under house arrest pending decisions by the judicial authorities. He will have to answer to the charge of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and ammunition. Investigations are continuing to clarify the origin and possible use of the seized weapons.

It's strange how a person can have guns in their home without anyone noticing. Security is important but certain things shouldn't happen. I hope the investigations lead to clear results for everyone.
The article explains the situation very well but there are too many weapons in circulation and I don't understand how it is possible that a person can have such a large arsenal at home. There should be more controls.
