The Department of Social, Youth and Health Policies of the Municipality of Torre Annunziata, led by Councilor Antonio Coppola, has renewed its commitment to needy families with the solidarity project "Add a Place at the Table", which also covers the holidays for the traditional Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve dinners.
Thanks to the collaboration with Mensa dei Poveri Don Pietro Ottena, a deeply rooted and precious reality in the territory, concrete interventions have been prepared to guarantee a more peaceful Christmas for those in difficulty. In addition to the usual delivery of 600 monthly food parcels, in fact, the project provides for the possibility for beneficiary families to collect meals prepared by volunteers during the Christmas holidays, both for Christmas Eve dinner and for New Year's Eve dinner.
“Christmas must be a time of peace, inclusion and serenity for everyone,” emphasizes Councilor Antonio Coppola. “Our community must demonstrate its solidarity, especially on these occasions. 'Aggiungi un posto a tavola' is not just a welfare project, but an invitation to create unity and hope, so that no one feels excluded. It represents a tangible sign of the entire community's commitment to those in difficulty. It is not just about distributing food, but about restoring dignity, comfort and human warmth to those experiencing a moment of fragility”.
The administration led by Mayor Cuccurullo and the Popolari per la Pace movement, in particular councilors Roberto De Rosa and Francesca Caso - concluded Coppola -, firmly believe that no one should feel alone or abandoned, especially during the Christmas holidays, and for this reason we want to create an atmosphere of solidarity and hope that involves every citizen."
The delivery of food parcels will take place at the gym of the former “Penniniello” school in Via Settetermini on the following days:
- December 16th from 15:00 pm to 19:00 pm
- December 17th from 9:00 pm to 18:00 pm
Recipients who are unable to collect the package on the dates indicated will have a further opportunity on December 18th from 9:00 to 12:00.
For dinners, however, delivery is scheduled from morning to afternoon of the same day.
