At the center of this afternoon's summit at Palazzo Chigi was the arrest of journalist Cecilia Sala. The meeting at the Farnesina between Secretary General Riccardo Guariglia and the Iranian ambassador, which took place at the request of Minister Tajani, also recently concluded.
The meeting scheduled for 16.00 pm at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers will be attended by President Giorgia Meloni, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Justice Minister Carlo Nordio, Undersecretary to the Presidency Alfredo Mantovano and the Italian intelligence services, with the possible involvement of the opposition.
The High Representative for Foreign Affairs of the European Union Kaja Kallas has called for the immediate release of the Italian journalist by Iranian authorities.

It is strange that a journalist is arrested in a country like Iran. Surely there are reasons behind this, but it would be important to understand what exactly is happening and what the implications are for press freedom.
