A tour through the alleys where he grew up but also through the squares where he took his first steps in music. The Municipality of Naples will remember Pino Daniele ten years after his death, on January 4, 2015. It will do so with two days that will remember, also with anecdotes and stories, his musical legacy but also his bond with the city.
“Pino Daniele was a beacon for Naples, a point of reference for several generations, an innovator capable of contaminating genres and languages: his art is eternal – underlined the mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi – Ten years after his death, it was our duty to pay homage to him: after the New Year's concert on the 31st in his honor, Neapolitans and tourists will be able to listen to his songs, which already echo every day in the alleys of the center like a permanent soundtrack of the city, in the streets of his childhood and adolescence. Pino will always be among us”.
“The tenth anniversary of the death of Pino Daniele is a fundamental occasion to celebrate not only the talent of one of the greatest Italian artists, but also the intense bond he has always had with Naples – explains the coordinator of cultural policies of the Municipality of Naples Sergio Locoratolo – The initiatives proposed by the Municipality, including the tour of the symbolic places of his youth made possible thanks to the collaboration activated with the Fai, represent an authentic tribute to his musical legacy, which was able to tell the story of the deepest, most authentic city.
In these ten years without him, Pino Daniele he has remained a living presence in the heart of the city, not only for his music, but also for his ability to tell, with poetry and passion, the stories that are part of the soul of Naples”. “These moments of commemoration are, therefore, not only an opportunity to relive the past, but also to reflect on how much his music has contributed to defining the cultural identity of Naples in the international music scene – he adds – The city itself, as the young Pino sang, is a 'walk' that passes through alleys and squares and the same path can today be taken in his honor, uniting the past with the present in an incredible synthesis between memory and perspective”.

It's true that Pino Daniele was a great artist, but I don't understand how you can do such a big event for him after so much time. His music is always present but we must also look forward and not just to the past.
