Reckless races in the middle of the night, cars and motorcycles launched at full speed through the city streets, rallies advertised on social media by a well-known YouTuber. This is the disturbing picture reported by the residents of Acerra, who are asking for the intervention of the police to stop a phenomenon that is becoming increasingly dangerous.
For weeks, numerous reports have been reaching MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the regional co-spokesperson of Europa Verde, Rosario Visone. According to citizens, dozens, if not hundreds, of young people gather near the McDonald's in Acerra to challenge each other in clandestine speed and skill competitions. The vehicles, often modified and enhanced, speed along the city streets, putting public safety at risk.
The alarm is also fueled by the spread of videos online, in which young people, including some minors, are seen performing wheelies, spins and dangerous acrobatics. A well-known Neapolitan YouTuber documented the gatherings, inadvertently contributing to their diffusion.
"The residents are exasperated - Borrelli and Visone report - because, after an initial intervention by the police, the phenomenon seemed to have subsided. Now, however, it has returned with worrying intensity. These races are not only an act of recklessness, but a concrete threat to pedestrians, motorists and the participants themselves. Immediate action is needed to stop this trend before a tragedy occurs".
In addition to the danger of the races, suspicions of a clandestine betting ring linked to the rallies have also been raised. “If confirmed,” the representatives of Europa Verde conclude, “we would not only be dealing with a public order issue, but with a real organized criminal activity. It is necessary to investigate and intervene without delay.”
Citizens are demanding quick responses, fearing that the escalation could lead to irreparable consequences.

It's really worrying that these young people are racing so fast and without thinking about the risks. I hope that the police will intervene soon to stop this situation before something bad happens, even if it's difficult.
