Caserta – He passed away at the age of 75 Paul Trofino, a well-known Italian criminal lawyer, remembered for his career in investigations and trials of national importance.
Trofino, originally from Aversa in Caserta, he was a central figure in the defense of Luciano Moggi during the famous “Calciopoli” trial that shook the world of Italian soccer in 2006. Among his clients was also the well-known mafia boss Raffaele Cutolo, linked to the Nuova Camorra Organizzata.
Trofino leaves behind his wife Luisa, his children Paolo Jr and Chiara and three grandchildren. His career has been highlighted by the Criminal Chamber of Napoli, who described him as a “man of great legal culture, always on the front line for the defense of the weakest and for the application of due process”.
The Criminal Chamber of Santa Maria Capua Vetere also paid homage to him, calling him an “exponent of the noblest legal profession of our time and a shining example of legal passion for the young generations throughout the country”. The funeral will take place tomorrow at 16 pm at the Cathedral of Aversa.

It is truly a great loss for the Italian justice system, Paolo Trofino has done so much for the legal world and will always be remembered. It is important not to forget his contribution and his commitment to defending rights.
