Aversa – The Carabinieri of the Company of Aversa, in collaboration with the staff of the UOV of the ASL of Caserta, conducted yesterday a series of targeted checks within the services set up for the protection of public hygiene. The inspections, carried out at some commercial establishments in the Norman city, led to heavy fines and the suspension of the activity of a grocery store.
A food business has ended up in the crosshairs of law enforcement, where serious irregularities were found relating to the failure to comply with current regulations on hygiene and food safety. Following the violations found, the military ordered the immediate suspension of the business activity.
The investigations revealed, among other things, the illegal occupation of public land and the running of a bakery business without the necessary authorizations. The bakery laboratory and the kitchen, used for the preparation of food in completely inadequate hygienic-sanitary conditions, were placed under criminal seizure.
During the inspection, the Carabinieri found approximately 500 kilos of expired food and beverages, stored in precarious hygienic conditions. In addition, improper materials were found, such as wooden pallets and fabric and plastic residues, used inappropriately for baking.
The store manager was fined €7.121,00 for the violations found. The intervention of the police and health inspectors underlined the importance of ensuring compliance with the rules for the protection of public health, especially in a sensitive sector such as food.
