The Carabinieri of the Apiro station, in the province of Macerata, have reported a 38-year-old man, resident in the province of Caserta, on charges of computer fraud.
The investigation was launched following a complaint filed by a citizen who was the victim of an alleged online scam. The citizen, wanting to buy an engine for his minicar, had searched online and made contact with an individual who claimed to be an employee of a company specializing in the sale of mechanical materials.
After making a transfer of 400 euros for the purchase, the buyer never received the goods or a refund. Thanks to an effective investigative activity, which included the tracking of financial movements, the Carabinieri were able to identify the IBAN to which the money was paid.
This account was found to be associated with a rechargeable prepaid card registered to the suspect. The facts collected led to the complaint of the 38-year-old for computer fraud.

I don't understand how it is possible that a person can fall for such an obvious scam, but unfortunately it happens. It is important to be careful when buying things online and always check who you are dealing with. It is a shame that there are people who take advantage of the good faith of others.
