Naples - The trial against the 15-year-old who confessed to the murder of Gennaro Ramondino, his peer and best friend, which took place in the Pianura neighborhood in August last year, ended with a sentence of 4 years and 17 months in prison.
During the hearing, the defendant, assisted by lawyer Antonella Regine, provided further details on the dynamics of the crime, claiming he had been manipulated by people older than him. "They told me I was smart and that I could grow with them. I wanted to be accepted, so I obliged," the young man stated, adding that he only later realized he had been "brainwashed."
Acquitted of drug dealing charges
Judge Angela Draetta acquitted the defendant of drug dealing charges and excluded the mafia aggravating circumstance. However, his responsibility for the murder of Ramondino, killed with a gun that, according to his testimony, had been left unattended.
The young man also reported refusing to burn the victim's body, a gesture he attributed to the deep bond of friendship that united them. "We slept together, we spent days and nights together," he said during questioning.
Currently detained in a juvenile prison, the 17-year-old will have to deal not only with the sentence, but also with the weight of remorse for a crime that, as he himself admitted, will accompany him for the rest of his life.

It is very sad that a young person can commit such a serious crime, but it is even sadder that he is influenced by older people. The consequences are devastating and cannot be changed, but society must reflect.
