Specifically, it was a second-level homologous in vitro fertilization technique called 'IntraCytoplasmic Sperm Injection', which involves the use of the couple's gametes and the collection of oocytes, followed by artificial insemination and the subsequent transfer of the embryos into the uterus of the female partner.
To date, ICSI is the most widely used medically assisted procreation technique to treat male fertility problems related to sperm motility, which involves the injection of a single sperm directly into a single oocyte which, once fertilized, will give rise to the new individual, the so-called zygote.
To the parents of the first newborn born at the PMA Center of the Hospital of Salerno, a 3,450 kg baby girl, born spontaneously in the 39th week, the Strategic Management of Ruggi extends its best and most heartfelt wishes.
