After the success of the first event of the year, with the screening of the film No More Trouble – What Remains of a Storm by Tommaso Romanelli, the Vesuvius Race 2025 is preparing to return to sea.

The prestigious regatta, now in its sixth edition, will start on Saturday 29 March laid down by the Oncino Bay, Between Castellammare di Stabia and Torre Annunziata. Inserted in the calendar of the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV) and supported by Project Bank, the event is much more than a sporting competition: it represents an opportunity to promote the coastal area, combining sport and landscape enhancement.
The route, in fact, winds through some of the most suggestive locations of the Gulf of Naples, touching Naples, Procida, Ischia, Capri and the Sorrento Coast. The event will see on the starting line over 40 boats with crews from all over Italy. Among the most anticipated participants, there are the teams from Lazio Red Blood Cell (Yacht Club Gaeta EVS), Celestina (Royal Rowing Club Tevere Remo) and Loucura 3 (Caposele Nautical Club of Formia). In the class Orc, they will fight Not bad, Duffy and Emytoo, all of the Naval League of Pozzuoli. The spotlight is also on Farr'e Night, real-time winner of the 2024 edition, who will compete for the Circolo Nautico di Torre del Greco.
Three tests are scheduled: Vesuvius Race (75 nautical miles) – Complete route starting from Oncino Bay, around the islands of Procida, Ischia and Capri, arriving in Castellammare di Stabia after rounding the buoy of Naples, near Castel dell'Ovo. Vesuvius Race Light (50 nautical miles) – A shortened route to enhance sailing and navigation, with a buoy at Corricella di Procida and return. Vesuvius Coastal Race (20 nautical miles) – Dedicated to small and aggressive minialtura, with a route towards the Vervece rock and I arrive in Castellammare.
A growing event, between innovation and tradition
The regatta is organized by the Vesuvius Race Committee, composed of young professional and passionate sailors, under the guidance of Nautical Club of Torre Annunziata, chaired by Dr. Felicio De LucaThe competition officially opens the offshore racing circuit of the FIV Zone V and carries forward a spirit of aggregation and challenge that has distinguished it since the first edition.
Thanks to the contribution of the Vesuvio Race, this year the Torre Annunziata Nautical Club has obtained the prestigious award “City of Sailing and the Sea” by FIV, as evidence of the commitment to spreading sailing culture. In support of the event, the Tourist Port Marina di Stabia will ensure the reception and logistical services for the participating fleet.
The program includes: March 28, 19:00 PM – Technical briefing in webinar mode on the official YouTube channel; March 29, pre-regatta – Meeting with the President of the Race Committee, Francis Courage, and the prof. Raphael Montella, marine meteorology expert at Parthenope University; April 5th, 20:00 pm – Award ceremony at the Yacht Club of Marina di Stabia. As every year, there will be an active satellite tracking system to follow the race in real time, with updates on social channels and the official website www.vesuviorace.com.
