Rome – A shocking message posted on Instagram has shaken the Italian political landscape: “I wish Meloni’s daughter the same fate as the girl from Afragola.”
The post, attributed to an alleged former employee of the Ministry of Education, was relaunched by Fratelli d'Italia, prompting an immediate reaction from Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara.
The Prime Minister denounced the episode on social media, defining the message not as a political clash or an expression of anger, but as the fruit of "a sick climate, an ideological hatred" that even justifies wishing death on a child to attack a parent.
“There are borders that must never be crossed,” wrote Meloni, calling on the entire political class to unite against this violent drift. “Defending these borders is a responsibility that goes beyond any affiliation.”
Minister Valditara promised a decisive intervention: “We will identify the author of this vile act,” he declared, announcing that the authorities are already working to identify the person responsible for the message, which refers to the tragic story of a young woman killed in Afragola.
The prime minister and her daughter received bipartisan solidarity from all political forces. The episode reignites the debate on online hate and the escalation of verbal violence against public figures and their families, raising questions about the need for more effective measures to combat the phenomenon and protect the dignity of those involved.
