Naples – A premeditated attempted murder of three inmates is at the center of a complex investigation by the Central Investigative Unit of the Penitentiary Police, which led to the issuing of a custodial order in prison by the GIP of Naples against an inmate in the Frosinone prison.
The man, whose identity has not been released, faces serious charges, including mafia-style criminal association, as he is believed to be affiliated with the group known as 'Abbasc Miano', an offshoot of the powerful Lo Russo or Capitoni clan, active mainly in the Miano area of Naples.
The charges against him also include carrying and possession of a common firearm inside a penitentiary institution, private violence against a public official and various allegations of unauthorized access to communication devices by detainees.
According to investigators, the suspect's actions were characterized by the use of the conditions set out in article 416 bis of the penal code, with methods typical of gangs and aimed at facilitating the criminal cartel known as the Secondigliano Alliance.
The aim was to strengthen the Alliance's control inside prisons by managing the lucrative trade in communication devices, particularly mobile phones.
The reconstruction of events brought to light a disturbing episode dating back to September 19, 2021. Inside the Frosinone prison, a drone managed to send a gun to the suspect, who was already detained in the facility at the time. This weapon was subsequently used by the same person to shoot three other inmates inside the same unit.
Investigators have ascertained that this violent episode was part of a broader context, the subject of further criminal proceedings pending at the Naples and Frosinone prosecutors' offices. This context concerns a criminal group structured as a true "service company", capable of delivering both cellular devices and narcotic substances to various prisons across the country.
The leaders of this organization were identified as some of the contacts of the clans that make up the Secondigliano Alliance. These facts had already led to the issuing of another precautionary custody order and a first-degree trial with convictions.
The attempted murder charged to the suspect today would represent the beginning of a demonstration action by the criminal group. The objective was to maintain control of illicit deliveries via drone within penitentiary institutions, in a context in which other criminal groups intended to independently enter this "business".
The suspect, already convicted in the past for mafia association (article 416 bis of the criminal code), continued his criminal activity even during his detention, thanks to the use of communication devices that he managed to smuggle into prison, actively participating in the life of his clan, in particular by providing them with smartphones.
The investigation by the Penitentiary Police sheds light on a criminal system rooted within prisons, where the control of drug and cell phone trafficking is a stake in the hegemony between the clans.
