Varcaturo – An early summer afternoon turned into tragedy on the coast of Varcaturo, a seaside resort on the border between the municipalities of Giugliano in Campania and Castel Volturno.
A boy of just 18 years old, Nicola Mirti, resident in Mugnano, was stabbed to death during a fight that broke out in one of the local beaches, Palma Rey.
The young man was stabbed several times with a knife. Deep and serious wounds that left him no escape. According to initial information gathered, the attack occurred in the late afternoon, on one of the beaches frequented by young people in the area.
Nicola was apparently rescued by a passing ambulance, which rushed him to the hospital in Pozzuoli. However, his conditions were already desperate: the doctors could do nothing but declare his death shortly after his arrival at the emergency room.
The investigations, coordinated by Police of State, left immediately. The patrol cars, alerted by the first calls to 113, started tracking down the attacker and, within a short time, stopped a 19-year-old youth, the presumed perpetrator of the murder.
The two knew each other and had argued on the beach
The boy was taken to the Castel Volturno police station, where he is currently being interrogated. His position is being examined by investigators.
The motive for the act remains to be clarified. Investigators are trying to reconstruct the details of the events, also thanks to the analysis of the images from the video surveillance cameras present in the area and the testimonies of those present. At the moment it is assumed that theaggression may have arisen from an argument, perhaps over trivial reasons or an argument that degenerated into violence.
